In this session a panel of Terence Crutcher Foundation team members and community partners will work through many of its findings from their comprehensive report on the carceral state in Tulsa and the state of Oklahoma and begin to imagine – alongside participants – what public safety truly is and what it can be. In addition, this session will unpack popular narratives around crime and criminality and the criminalization of mental health, homelessness, poverty, Blackness, drug addiction, and other racialized and gendered social categories.
